Are APC Propellers NDAA-Compliant?

APC Propellers are made by Landing Products Inc. in Woodland, California, and the company states that its propellers have been designed and manufactured in the USA since 1989. That answers the first question a program asks. It does not by itself answer the second: NDAA compliance is documented at the component level, down to resin and reinforcement, so a US-made propeller is compliant when its maker can show that no covered-country material or sub-tier supplier is in the chain. Ask APC for that documentation; whether a specific part is permitted on a specific program depends on your contract's flow-downs, so confirm with your compliance team.

Why country of origin is the deciding factor

NDAA covered-country and flow-down requirements ban federal agencies from purchasing or operating UAS — and their components — from covered foreign entities, and they extend to federal grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. Prime contractors flow the same requirements down to their suppliers, and compliance is required at the component level, not just the system level. Our NDAA covered-country explainer covers the mechanics.

The result: for a program under these flow-downs, the question isn't whether a propeller performs well — it's where it and its materials come from, and whether you can document that.

Made in the USA and NDAA-compliant are different claims

"Made in the USA" describes where a part is manufactured. NDAA compliance describes the whole chain behind it: the manufacturer is not a covered entity, no covered-entity component or material sits anywhere in the supply chain, and there is paper to prove both. A US-molded propeller using resin or reinforcement from a covered entity is not compliant. Our verification checklist lists the questions.

Where Anvil differs

APC's multirotor range is its own geometry. The Anvil line is referenced to the Gemfan and HQProp parts that US FPV and Group 2 platforms were tuned on, so for a platform designed around one of those parts the drop-in question is geometry as much as origin: a domestic propeller of a different planform, pitch or hub is a re-tune, not a swap. See the Gemfan and HQProp replacement guides for which parts are referenced.
